Kilinga Bacanora Launches Reposado and Añejo Expressions

Kilinga, the award-winning bacanora from Álamos, Sonora has announced the release of its aged expressions, Kilinga Reposado and Kilinga Añejo. Created by Maestro Bacanorero Rodrigo Bojorquez Bours, they are aged between six to 36 months in hand-selected White American and French Oak casks for unique, distinct flavor profiles. The Reposado and Añejo follow Kilinga’s release of the Silvestre and Blanco expressions, which launched in the United States on March 1, 2022.

Kilinga Reposado is produced using their award-winning Blanco as its base. The bacanora is artfully aged in American White Oak barrels at 80 proof (40% ABV) allowing the floral notes to harmonize with the oak, resulting in a golden honey color. This expression evokes Sonoran wildflowers, vanilla, roasted coffee, and caramel with hints of vanilla and agave followed by a smooth, clean, woodsy finish that lingers.
The rare, small-batch Añejo is bold and complex having been aged for 34-36 months in ex-Baja red wine French Oak casks. It has a deep amber color and decadent depth of flavor. This expression is an evolution of the Blanco expression allowing the deep caramel aromas to develop into a toasted caramel flavor profile. Bottled at 88 proof (44% ABV) it has a sweet, earthy nose with delightful hints of dark chocolate, tobacco, vanilla, and charred sugar flavors present.
All Kilinga bacanoras are made using native Agave Angustifolia Haw unique to Sonora–where the desert meets the sea and mountains–thus infusing them with local terroir and aromas. Kilinga is carefully crafted using only agave cultivated on their own family-run farm for superior quality and authentic taste. More importantly, with the family’s roots in agriculture, the brand practices safe, sustainable and environmentally-friendly farming. This commitment to excellence led to Kilinga being awarded Bacanora Distillery of the Year at the 13th annual New York International Spirits Competition in 2022.
“Each presentation of our bacanora will transport you to a different season of the year in the Sonoran desert,” says Kilinga Founder Rodrigo Bojorquez Bours. “We truly try to capture the essence of the region at Kilinga.”
The brand was inspired by and named after Rodrigo’s mother, Kilinga. La Señora Kilinga is the vibrant matriarch and heart of the family. The Sonoran desert is reflected in Kilinga’s sophisticated and alluring packaging. The color palette and labels capture the untamed beauty, wildness and irrepressibility of both its muses.
