Tales on Tour: Puerto Rico

Tales of the Cocktail Foundation is pleased to announce that tickets for Tales on Tour: Puerto Rico 2020 are now live! The four-day festival will take place from April 19-22. For the second year in a row, the Tales on Tour event will occur in Old San Juan with Hotel El Convento serving as the host hotel.

Tales on Tour is an annual initiative that partners Tales of the Cocktail Foundation with a domestic or international host city outside of New Orleans to further the Foundation’s mission to educate, advance, and support the industry on a global scale. Tales on Tour 2020: Puerto Rico will include a Day of Service, a Day of Education, Beyond the Bar programming centered on mental health and wellness, Spirited Dinners and the organization’s signature Cocktail Apprentice Program.

The Foundation, its sponsors, and renowned philanthropic organizations have collaborated to create impactful activities during the Day of Service (April 21) where attendees will have an opportunity to directly support Puerto Rico with volunteer efforts. The first activity,in
partnership with Surfrider Foundation Rincón and Arrecifes Pro Ciudad, includes a beach cleanup, citizen science trash survey, coral reef orientation and a presentation on the purpose of Marine Protected Areas. The second, in partnership with SBP and their
Puerto Rico Home Project, furthers the organization’s mission to shrink the time between disaster and recovery. SBP established their long-term operating site in Puerto Rico in August of 2018 to repair and rebuild homes of families affected by Hurricane Maria and other natural disasters. Participants in this activity will help speed the recovery of three families by repairing their homes.

Beyond the Bar will also return to Tales on Tour for the second year in a row. Launched under Tales of the Cocktail leadership team (Co-chairs Neal Bodenheimer, Gary Solomon Jr. and President Caroline Rosen), Beyond the Bar offers programming designed to further The Foundation’s mission to Educate, Advance, and Support the spirits and global cocktail communities. Beyond the Bar will feature a “Vinyasa Flow” with Renae Pellegrino, “Stress Reduction and Sleep Regulation,” “Mindfulness and Meditation” with Manena Gonzales, “Roll Out! Self-massage for Bartenders” and “Brace Yourself: Injuries Are Coming” with Amie Ward. A full schedule of programming can be found here.

The Day of Education will showcase a seminar from Jeff Berry, the 2019 recipient of
the coveted Golden Spirit Award, on “The Cocktail Menu: History & Theory” with panelist David Wondrich which will dive deep into the past, present and future of the cocktail menu.
Other seminar highlights include “The Queer Community Revealed: Turning Allies into Advocates” from Chris Cabera, “Personal Branding: Behind the Bar & Beyond” from Eylane Duff and “Operation Bootstrap: How Puerto Rico Reinvented Rum, 1930-1960” from Culture Advisory Committee member Wayne Curtis.

La Factoria’s team will once again be a close partner for Tales on Tour 2020: Puerto Rico working alongside the Foundation to host a special takeover event during the festival. Tales on Tour 2020: Puerto Rico is sponsored by Discover PR, Don Q, Bacardi, Aardvark
