Survey Results: Restaurant/Bar Activity & COVID-19

On June 3, 2020, SipScience , a national data analytics hospitality company for consumers, bars, and restaurants, presented a webinar via Zoom to review the findings of its latest data research: Restaurant/Bar Activity and COVID-19. Dr. Karen Bartuch, COO of SipScience, led the webinar.

The purpose of the survey was to ensure safety of consumers in bars and restaurants, help bars and restaurants prepare for reopening and long-term success, and leverage data to make informed decisions. This survey revealed key four key insights extracted from 250-plus, LDA participants who engaged in the 37 question survey:

  • Communication
  • Contactless Payments
  • Deals
  • Trust

Some other interesting findings from the survey were:

  • 93% of respondents purchased carryout food during the COVID-19 quarantine.
  • 37% of respondents purchased carryout alcohol during the quarantine.
  • 64% of respondents said they planned on dining in at restaurants when allowed to do so.
  • However, 60% of respondents also said they had concerns about the safety of dining inside restaurants.

SipScience is slated to launch its official app, SIP, in 33 cities across the United States later this summer. The member-based SIP app is designed to offer an advantage to each part of a three-pillar ecosystem of venues, consumers, and alcohol companies, by providing marketed brands with real-time data about consumer alcohol purchasing behaviors inside bars and restaurants and bars— all with meaningful perks and drink discounts to its member base, in return for the purchase data of their transactions.

SipScience’s Co-CEO, Ayan Roy added, “In the era of ‘the simple click,’ we’re proud to invite bar and restaurant owners to become SIP users. After a seamless two-step onboard, SIP venue-partners will immediately set into motion the creation of an ecosystem that will give them an advantage over the competition. As venues and establishments plan for reentry into the $863-billion-dollar marketplace, SipScience will be right there alongside them to help drive long-term business.”
