Toasting Jon Stewart with Courvoisier

It is the end of an era this week as Jon Stewart’s “The Daily Show” ends its over 16 year run. To celebrate this milestone, Courvoisier cognac’s Exceptional Journey program is honoring Jon Stewart in celebration of his last show on Thursday, August 6th with a cocktail that pays homage to Stewart’s bartender past.

Courvoisier’s Exceptional Journey campaign celebrates the path toward achieving excellence, recognizing not only the moment of embarking on a new journey and the success of completing that journey, but the special moments along the way. The campaign honors individuals—such as Stewart– who have started on their own remarkable journey and pays homage to the brand’s own identity.

With a nod to Stewart’s bartender past (from 1984 to 1987, Stewart bartended at Trenton Punk Club, City Gardens) the “Farewell to Stewart” drink incorporates Courvoisier VS, seasonal ingredients and topped with champagne to toast to Stewart’s success.

Take a large storage freezer bag, 10 oz. of raw honey, 5 oz. of water and 5 stalks of freshly cut lemon grass and 3 pints of fresh blueberries. Seal the bag with a straw in one corner to aid in removing the air from the bag, finish sealing bag with as little air as possible. Place bag into an appropriately sized plastic container. Add boiling water into the plastic container until the bag floats slightly. Seal the container to trap the steam and heat inside, leave for 45 minutes. Remove bag and shock in an ice bath. Strain syrup and save the blueberries for garnish.
