Web addresses ending in .BAR instead of .com

Customers will be able to find bars and clubs more easily online thanks to a new service allowing web addresses to end in .BAR instead of .COM (for example harrys.BAR instead of harrysbar.com). A new website www.domains.BAR from CentralNic Group PLC launches today to provide bar and club owners and managers with the new domain names ending in .BAR, as well as free hosted websites and a free email forwarding service for the liquor trade.

“These new .BAR web addresses will help customers and search engines find bars and clubs faster and more easily, as well as giving venues the best possible domain names for their websites. Customers will know for certain that they can get a drink at harrys.bar – and it stands out from all the other websites containing the word “Harry’s” in their names,” said Ben Crawford, CEO of CentralNic.

The launch of .BAR domain names through www.domains.BAR is part of a reorganization of the internet that involves new domain endings for each industry – including .rest for restaurants (see www.domains.rest), .build for construction (see www.domain.build) and .luxury for top end providers (see www.domain.luxury).

Now, with web addresses ending in .BAR, bars, nightclubs, manufacturers, distributors, and other suppliers will have the ability to differentiate themselves online. Leading brands and companies that have already registered their .BAR domains include Jack Daniels, Miller, TGIFridays, Formula 1, Campari, Skyy, Belvedere, Moet, Dom Perignon, Cloudy Bay, and Wynn Resorts, among many others.

The launch of .BAR was celebrated in style at London’s Sanderson Hotel, sponsored by luxury vodka brand, Beluga, and co-hosted by CentralNic and Punto 2012, the Mexico City-based company that founded .BAR.

“.BAR will connect the bar and club industry with customers online,” said Aaron Grego, CEO of Punto 2012. “This is a perfect opportunity for businesses to grab a simple and easy-to-use domain name that describes their bar or club with a descriptive name. Our industry needs to stand out online and be found—with .BAR they can be.”

CentralNic Group PLC developed and operates www.domains.BAR as a “flagship store” – a revolutionary new concept in registrars. Rather than operating a supermarket-style online store trying to sell every domain name, TRS invented the Flagship Store – a branded website dedicated to selling domains under a single TLD, together with appropriate value-added products and services. The world leader in flagship store websites, TRS created its first flagship store five in 2008, and will be launching multiple flagship store websites during 2014.

Mexico City-based Punto 2012, is a domain company that services Generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs) .rest and .bar, geared for the restaurant and bar industry. The entrepreneurial team consists of experts in the domain industry as well as the food and beverage industry dedicated to revolutionizing the Internet so that businesses can own their identity and be found by their customers.
