According to PRNewswire, Michelob Ultra and Lance Armstrong are partnering this holiday season to support World Bicycle Relief, a 501 (c)(3) organization that designs quality and sturdy bicycles for people living in sub Saharan Africa, helping them access education, health care and independence.

Now through December 31, Michelob Ultra will donate ten cents to World Bicycle Relief every time a consumer purchases a 12, 18, 20 or 24-pack, with a maximum donation of $25,000. Michelob Ultra will also donate ten cents to every new “like” the Michelob Ultra Facebook page receives through the end of the year.

“In the United States we often view cycling as a fitness or recreational activity, but in many parts of the world, bicycles can make a significant improvement in people’s lives as their primary means of transportation,” said Lance Armstrong. “I’m thrilled to join Michelob Ultra this holiday season to help raise awareness and funds in support of World Bicycle Relief.”

“To millions of people in developing Africa, a quality, sturdy bicycle is the difference between getting to school, getting health care, making a living, or not. It is a simple, yet powerful tool that can lift the most in need out of poverty,” said F.K. Day, founder and president, World Bicycle Relief.

Since its inception in 2005 as a response to the tsunami in the Indian Ocean, World Bicycle Relief has designed and distributed more than 91,000 bikes and trained over 750 field mechanics in Africa. The organization offers sustainable transportation to improve access to education and economic opportunity through the increased carrying capacity and reduced travel time that bicycles provide to individuals in need.

“We’re proud to support World Bicycle Relief’s mission of providing the independence and benefits of cycling to those in need,” said Ryan Moore, senior director, Michelob Ultra. “There’s no better time of the year to come together to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those less fortunate.”
