Diageo Appoints New Guinness Global Brand Director

Following the recent announcement appointing Brian Duffy to Global Category Director for Beer, Diageo announced that Oliver Loomes will be appointed as Global Brand Director for Guinness, effective March 1st. Loomes is currently the Marketing and Innovation Director for Diageo Ireland.

After Whiskey, beer is the second largest category within Diageo, with Guinness being Diageo’s global beer brand, supported by a diverse portfolio of local brands such as Red Stripe, Windhoek and Harp. Guinness is the world’s number one stout, brewed in 50 countries, sold in 150 worldwide and achieved volume sales of 11.1 million equivalent units in fiscal 2010.

The role will not only leverage his marketing, innovation and specific beer capability, but also call on his great leadership skills and I am confident he will lead Guinness on the next stage of its transformational journey.”

Oliver has been with Diageo for 12 years, with one of his previous roles including Head of Marketing on Spirits and Lagers in Ireland where he played an integral role in the revitalization of the lager category. He also led the successful execution in Ireland of the Guinness 250th Celebration in 2009 and Arthur’s Day in 2010.
