Beer Distributors Deliver Variety for Big Game

America’s Beer Distributors Deliver Unprecedented Variety to Retailers for Super Bowl 50

As Americans prepare to watch this year’s Super Bowl, the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) is recognizing the men and women of the beer distribution industry who deliver a wide selection of beer to licensed retailers for consumers to enjoy.

“From familiar domestic brands to intriguing imports and exciting new products from local and small craft brewers, America’s beer distribution employees are working in overdrive to make sure the marketplace offers an unparalleled variety of beer for consumers to enjoy during the big game,” said NBWA President & CEO Craig Purser.

According to Information Resources Inc. (IRI), Chicago, beer is the number one product category by sales dollars, generating $583 million in sales the week prior to the NFL’s flagship event.

Across the country, 3,300 independent, licensed beer distribution facilities supply local stores, restaurants and bars with a variety of beer styles and brands. According to data collected by NBWA, the typical independent distributor delivers nearly 1,000 unique SKUs of beer.

“There are many great beer selling occasions during the course of the year, and Super Bowl week is definitely one of them,” said NBWA Chief Economist Lester Jones. “Beer distributors and retailers serving the local markets in Denver and North Carolina can expect to see a boost in sales as fans gather to cheer on their home teams at bars, restaurants and at home.”

NBWA encourages responsible consumption before, during and after Sunday’s big event.
