Orphan Barrel Releases 15-Year-Old Bourbon

The fifth release from the Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company is Forged Oak. This statuesque Kentucky Straight Bourbon spent 15 contemplative years resting in charred American oak. While Forged Oak will be allocated, just like Barterhouse, future releases of the whiskey are planned.

Forged Oak’s packaging offers stark contrasts in colors and aesthetics. The intricate brushed metallic label incorporates antique silver hues and the embossed design elements highlight the majestic elk featured on the label, as well as the liquid within.

Forged Oak was produced at the New Bernheim Distillery between 1997-1998 and was found in the Stitzel-Weller warehouses in Louisville, Ky. The whiskey is hand-bottled in Tullahoma, Tenn. The mash bill for Forged Oak Whiskey is 86% corn, 8% barley and 6% rye.

Beginning with notes of cedar, maple and vanilla bean on the nose, Forged Oak tastes of seasoned woody notes of cocoa and young berries with a long, dry finish of black pepper.

The Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company is focused on finding long forgotten barrels of rare and delicious whiskey and sharing them with others. We are inspired by creativity, delicious whiskey, good times and great stories. The project is owned and operated by DIAGEO with headquarters in Tullahoma, Tenn. However, we like to think the company was founded in dark, quiet corners of our warehouses around the world where great whiskeys were forgotten, just waiting to be discovered.

Orphan Barrel whiskeys will be sourced from wherever our team is able to find these forgotten collections of beautiful whiskey. From Tennessee to Kentucky to Scotland and Ireland, we believe there is a treasure trove of liquid to be discovered and shared with true whiskey fans everywhere.
