Gold Medalist Bode Miller Celebrates with Jose Cuervo

Decorated Olympian Unveils One-of-a-Kind Tequila Case Created for Father at Private Event in New York CityNew York, NY (June 16, 2015) Jose Cuervo’s ultra-premium exceptionally aged tequila, Reserva de la Familia, is kicking off Father’s Day with an art-centric initiative with Olympic skier Bode Miller and his father, Woody, to celebrate the unique bond between Father and Son – a bond that has cemented the brand as a staple in Mexican culture for the past
200 years.

Bode has created a one-of-a-kind wooden case designed to house the unprecedented liquid as a personal gift for his father, which was unveiled last night at the Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Father’s Day Fiesta in New York City.

Rooted in sophistication and familial tradition, Jose Cuervo’s Reserva de la Familia comes from the ultra-aged, private reserves of tequila that Don Jose Antonio de Cuervo shared with his children in the late-18th century. Each bottle of Reserva de la Familia is encased in a wooden box adorned with the work of a carefully selected Mexican artist. For more than 200 years, Reserva de la Familia has become a symbol for the unique bond between Father and Son, since the tequila has been handmade by 10 generations of fathers and sons.

And now for Father’s Day, Bode Miller will follow the Cuervo tradition. He has decorated the box inspired by his relationship with his father – a design based on Bode’s childhood with his father growing up in New Hampshire, both on the tennis courts and ski slopes. Bode pays homage to everything Woody taught him about tolerance, respect, love, life and sports in this custom design.

“Just as Don Jose Antonio de Cuervo shared his craft and passion with his children, my father has instilled in me a sense of determination, perseverance and competitiveness that has helped me become the most decorated Olympic skier in our nation’s history,” says Bode. “It’s my honor to give back to him the finest aged tequila on the market, and my thanks to the Cuervo family for allowing me to customize it just for him.”

Miller unveiled and presented the bottle box to his father at a private reception at The Viceroy Hotel in New York City on Monday, June15, 2015.

Jose Cuervo has also commissioned other talent to create one-of-a kind designed bottle boxes inspired by their special relationships with their fathers. HGTV star, founder of the children’s non-profit organization, Carter’s Kids and notable lifestyle author, Carter Oosterhouse; explorer, environmental advocate and Emmy Nominated Host of FOX’s Awesome Planet, Philippe Cousteau, grandson of famed oceanographer and explorer Jacques Cousteau; and retired Super Bowl Champion with the New York Giants, and current ESPN NFL analyst, Antonio Pierce, have each created beautiful boxes to honor their fathers. All four boxes were unveiled last night at the private event.

Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia is the result of a family tradition passed down through the Jose Cuervo family line, resulting in the finest extra añejo tequila ever made. This year marks the 20th anniversary since the first release of Reserva, which was created to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Cuervo legacy. The extra añejo blending process creates an incredibly different tequila than anything else available, with the end liquid more akin to a fine Scotch or an excellent Cognac. The bottle comes inside of a wooden box that is adorned with the work of a Mexican artist, with each year displaying a different artist hand-chosen by the Jose Cuervo family. This year’s artist is Enrique Rosas, famous for crossing the boundaries of art, science and technology and deftly blending them all together. In addition to the decorative box, the entire packaging process – from the application of the unique label design to the red wax seal marked with the Cuervo family crest – is done entirely by hand. Reserva de la Familia is priced at $150.
