BACHE-GABRIELSEN COGNAC IN THE UNITED STATES

The distinguished brand is rolling out multiple cognacs in the desirable market for the first time, including one exclusive to the United States.Cognac, France (June 9th, 2016) – Bache-Gabrielsen, one of the world’s best-selling, family-owned and operated cognac houses, is entering the United States market for the first time in its storied 111-year history. Expanding on their established success in Europe and Asia and led by President and fourth-generation family member, Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, the brand will now introduce select super-premium cognacs to the growing aged spirits category.

Founded in 1905 by Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen from Holmestrand, Norway, the brand has a bi-cultural heritage merging the family’s deep Scandinavian roots while upholding the traditions of Cognac, France. This unique foundation has helped shape the brand over many decades, as well as determined its core values of innovation, tradition and passion.

In light of this significant launch, Bache-Gabrielsen is marking another milestone as it exclusively debuts a first-of-its kind expression to the United States: American Oak – the first cognac ever to be aged in American oak barrels. Master Blender Jean-Philippe Bergier worked closely with the company’s cooperage partner to determine the best oak for this particular cognac. The liquid spends a minimum of six months aging in brand new Tennessee oak barrels, which gives the final product distinct character, with aromas of ripe apricot, pear and vanilla and lingering flavors of coconut, caramel and chocolate.

“We’ve spent over a century perfecting our taste and expanding our offerings,” explains company president, Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen. “Bringing my family business to a critical market like the United States is a milestone for the brand, and we felt releasing American Oak was not only fitting for the occasion, but is evidence of our mission to consistently innovate while still honoring the tradition of this cherished spirit.”

American Oak is currently rolling out and will be distributed nationwide at a suggested retail price of $39.99. Also now available is Bache-Gabrielsen’s VSOP and XO from their Natur & Eleganse line, a portfolio dedicated to the ancestral methods of cognac and featuring no additives. Additional SKUs will be introduced over the coming months.

Bache-Gabrielsen is a family owned and operated artisanal Cognac brand. It was established in 1905 by Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen, a young Norwegian who moved to France to further develop his understanding of wines and spirits and fell in love with both Cognac and his future bride, Odette Villard. Known for its uncompromising quality and dedication to tradition, Bache-Gabrielsen Cognac represents an authentic expression of the region’s distinct terroir and ancestral history. Led today by the company’s president, Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, the great-grandson of Thomas, the brand is recognized for its innovation within the cognac category, including their unique eaux de vies as well as their sleek packaging. Bache-Gabrielsen is represented in the United States by the boutique luxury brand building agency, Bonneté Consulting Inc (BCI), and imported by The Winebow Group.
