Amantine women's day cocktail recipes

Ingredients:
1 ½ oz Pomp & Whimsy
2 oz Dao Ren loose leaf green tea infused with vanilla bean (can use extract if you need to. 1/4 teas extract to 8 oz of tea)
½ oz fresh lemon

Directions:
Shake and strain into coup. Garnish with tea leaf.

Amantine is the first name of the famous French novelist of the romantic period who wrote under the male pen name of “George Sand.” She was unruly, a champion of workers’ rights and women’s rights, a prolific writer, and someone who Victor Hugo described as ‘strong without ceasing to be tender’.

“Pomp and Whimsy has so much character and such, to my palate, bold florals that I wanted to work with it in an elegant way, letting those things stay forward in the profile. Jasmine and Green Tea have long been friends and I softened the loose leaf brew with a quick infusion of fresh vanilla bean.”

“Did you know that the human voice is the only pure instrument? That it has notes no other instrument has? It’s like being between the keys of a piano.” -Nina Simone

Love Me or Leave Me was sung by Nina Simone and is now a cocktail. She fell in love with classical music at a very young age. At only three years old, she learned to play piano and was singing in her church’s choir.

Later on, she began performing in night clubs and her career took off in 1957 when she released her first album. Her songs about love, protest and black empowerment won the hearts of many. Simone was often called the “High Priestess of Soul.”

Along with other icons such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, she spoke and performed at demonstrations, becoming known as the voice of the Civil Rights Movement. Simone always shared her truth and inspired many other famous performers. Her work continues to resonate strongly.

Kombucha Americano

Kombucha AmericanoBy Melissa Nasits, Beverage Innovation Manager for Monin

Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz Sweet Vermouth
1/2 oz Monin® Orange Spritz Syrup
5 oz Kombucha (unflavored)

Directions:
Fill serving glass full of ice. Pour ingredients into serving glass in order listed. Stir gently to mix. Add garnish and serve.

“This cocktail takes four beverage trends and puts them into one making this the trendiest drink around!” says Nasits. “Kombucha has been around for a long time and is seeing a rejuvenation in the cocktail world as a mixer since it can add flavor, acid, as well as bubbles. Vermouths are also making a comeback, which inspired this Americano. Put these two together, and you have a health-forward, low-ABV beverage that is great as a lunch-time reprieve or pre-dinner starter.”
