The Local Irish Pub Sells Most Jameson in the World

For the third consecutive year the bar honored by The Irish Distillers Limited, a subsidiary branch of Pernod Ricard, as having sold more Jameson Irish Whiskey than any other bar in the world, is not in Ireland.

It’s in… Minneapolis?

The Local Irish pub, founded by Ireland’s own Kiernan Folliard and Peter Killen, was presented by the Irish Distillers Limited on Monday, March 9, with a plaque in their honor. The pub’s signature drink, The Big GInger – which is no more or less than Jameson and ginger ale – helped one of the city’s favorite watering holes sell over 671 cases of Jameson in 2008. Which, by the way, amounts to about 22 bottles of Jameson sold each day.

Oddly enough, The Local is not the big winner in Minneapolis in terms of sales on St. Patrick’s day each year. It shares that title with its sister locations The Liffey and Kiernan’s.

Congrats to The Local!
