Proximo Spritis, Inc., New York, NY, and 1800 Tequila recently announced the brand’s partnership with 2009 NBA Championship team the Los Angeles Lakers. The multi-million dollar deal will include TV advertising as well as on- and off-premise logo rights. However, while this is the first time 1800 will enter into the professional sports arena in a sponsorship capacity, other notable spirits are finding valuable investment opportunities in sporting events and sponsorhips across the board.

Dos Equis was recently names the official beer sponsor of the 2009 Breeder’s Cup World Championship for the second consecutive year. The 26th Breeders’ Cup World Championships, Thoroughbred racing’s most prestigious global event, consisting of 14 races and $25.5 million in purses. The event will be televised live on ABC and ESPN and to a worldwide audience in more than 120 countries.livvodka.jpg
Long Island Spirits’ LiV Vodka and Louis Roederer Champagne will once again sponsor the 2009 Hamptons Classic, another defining equestian event which takes place at the end of August.
As a newcomer to the U.S. spirits market, El Grado Tequila has found that its partneership with Dempsey Racing has helped to aid in brand awareness on- and off-premise to prove to connoisseurs that it is “Tequila’s Crown Jewel™.”
El Grado has confirmed a partnership with Dempsey Racing to partner with the team for the remainder of the team’s 2009 season as Dempsey Racing’s drivers Joe Foster and Patrick Dempsey compete in their Mazda RX-8 GT in Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series races across the country.
In addition, El Grado is supporting Dempsey Racing in its Ferrari 430 GT entry in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (officially, Le 77ème Grand Prix d’Endurance les 24 Heures du Mans) with Team Seattle. With El Grado’s partnership, Dempsey Racing seeks to support the Team Seattle bid as they use professional motorsports to raise awareness for the groundbreaking work of Seattle Children’s Hospital.
