The 2014 Peter F. Heering Sling Award U.S. jury panel has reached a verdict! The 2014 Peter F. Heering Sling Award, which has grown from 27 participating countries last year to now 44 participating Sling-inspired countries, has elevated the competition to one of the world’s greatest and largest cocktail competitions and more importantly lifted this extremely talented group of U.S. bar-stars into rare air in the ever-growing global cocktail scene.

The top U.S. Finalists were all creative and winners in their own right – one even used a soup can as glassware!

Inspiration: A Latin inspired sling based on the naughty childhood character, Pepito
1.5 oz CHEERY HEERING, 1.0 oz Illegal Joven Mezcal, 0.5oz Barolo Chinato, 0.5oz Yellow Chartreuse, 0.25oz Ancho Reyes, 0.75oz Lime
Method: Muddle two pineapple chunks with a pinch of salt and add all ingredients, shake and double strain into an iced Collins glass and top with 1oz club soda, lightly stir, and add garnish

The Top 44 Global Finalist will now get the unique opportunity to leverage “The Peoples Vote” and will be provided a stipend to support cocktail menus, cocktails of the month or whatever they feel will inspire their guests, friends and family to raise their profile and their Sling achievement.

Moving forward, the Top 44 Global Finalist will have the opportunity to move into the Top 15 Global Semi-Finalist category, which will take place this August in London, England led by bar legend Simon Difford. Difford will host a prestigious jury panel that will include media, tastemakers and bar experts that will determine who will move onto Berlin, Germany and the Top 5 Global Finalist of the 2014 Peter F. Heering Sling Award, on Oct 7th – 8th at Bar Convent Berlin. The elite 15 Global finalist of The 2014 Peter F. Heering Sling Award will receive one personal electronic tablet, containing instructions for the semi-finals that take place in London, and will be asked to create a 3-minute (maximum) video of their Sling-spiration.
