Double Cross Vodka continues to establish itself as a leader in the highly competitive ultra-premium vodka category. This month, the vodka brand won a “Rising Star” award, issued by the Beverage Information Group as part of its annual Growth Brands Awards, which highlight the achievements in the spirits and wine industries. The awards were created to recognize brands that have achieved significant growth and to showcase existing and emerging trends in the industry. Other high-profile recipients of the Rising Star award include Skinnygirl, Bacardi OakHeart and Red Stag by Jim Beam.

“It’s an honor for us to receive a Rising Star award this year,” says Double Cross CEO Malcolm M. Lloyd, MD. “Every year, I eagerly await the release of the Growth Brands Awards to see who’s on the rise. It’s exciting to be recognized for our growth and success in the market thus far.”

To receive a Rising Star award, a brand must be less than five years old and have exhibited significant growth and impact on the market. Double Cross Vodka not only met those standards, but also exceeded them. The company, which launched in 2008, posted record sales in 2011, growing more than 125% from the previous year. To date, the brand’s top-selling markets are New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Florida.

This year, 37 Rising Stars were awarded. Double Cross Vodka was the highest-priced brand on the list and one of the few entrepreneurial brands named. According to the Beverage Information Group, vodka remains the engine that drives the business for beverage alcohol professionals. The latest statistics show that U.S. distilled-spirits sales volume rose to approximately 197.1 million 9-liter cases in 2011, representing a 2.6% gain over 2010. Overall, vodka volume grew by 6.0% in 2011 and represented over 70% of the growth for the entire spirits industry. Vodka now represents more than one-third of all spirits consumed in the U.S.
