Distilled and bottled in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, MISTER KATZ’S ROCK & RYE is an original recipe developed by New York Distillery Company’s Co-Founder and spirits expert Allen Katz, and will be available nationwide beginning November 1, 2014. Popularized in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Rock & Rye emerged when saloons added rock candy to young rye to make it more approachable. A bottled version was released by Charles Jacquin in 1884, and various blends were created over the years by bartenders adding citrus peels and spices to young rye. The drink faded from public consciousness in the mid-20th century but has begun to re-appear on the heels of the rye whiskey resurgence. The debut of MISTER KATZ’S ROCK & RYE brings the historic spirit back into the limelight. MISTER KATZ’S ROCK & RYE begins with a rye whiskey distilled, aged and blended (made from rye sourced exclusively from farmers in New York State). The result is a whiskey with texture that is then tempered with rock candy sugar, dried cherries, cinnamon and dried orange peel. MISTER KATZ’S ROCK & RYE is fun, flavorful and accessible. The allure of Rock & Rye lies in its versatility. MISTER KATZ’S ROCK & RYE is 65 proof by design. One can enjoy it on its own, as the mainstay of a cocktail, or as a modifier with other spirits. MISTER KATZ’S ROCK & RYE COCKTAIL CONCEPTS

BIG IRON
2 oz MISTER KATZ’S ROCK & RYE
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 dash Orange Bitters
Combine ingredients in an old-fashioned glass. Stir over a large ice cube.

CAVE CREEK
1 ¼ oz MISTER KAT’S ROCK & RYE
1 oz Glenlivet 12-Year Scotch Whsiky
¾ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
½ oz Real Grenadine
¼ oz Campari
Shake ingredients over ice and strain into a collins glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with an lemon twist.  Serve with s straw.

MARTINI ROBBINS
1 ¼ oz MISTER KATZ’S ROCK & RYE
1 oz Dorothy Parker – American Gin
1 oz Martini Rossi Sweet Vermouth
Stir ingredients over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

THE HARPERS FERRY
1 oz MISTER KATZ’S ROCK & RYE
¾ oz Pierre Ferrand Cognac 1840
½ oz Botran Rum
¾ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
½ oz Simple Syrup
Shake ingredients over ice and fine strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Lightly garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
