After traveling around the world, Barry Hansen noticed that there are many differences between each place and person, but also noticed the power craft beer had in bridging those differences. He began home-brewing after becoming intrigued by this concept and received an overwhelmingly positive response to his recipes. When the demand grew, it only made sense to create the product on a larger scale. Thus, #FREEDOM Craft Brewery was formed on July 31, 2012.

#FREEDOM joined the Brewer’s Association at an early stage to ensure they could and would meet the high standards the craft beer industry prides themselves on. Brewed in three barrel batches, this small size makes for a truly unique drinking experience and incredible control over taste. #FREEDOM is dedicated to a growing presence within the community and relies on a team made up of loyal supporters to help in the bottling of the beer. This practice has become common in the craft beer industry and they have already had successful “bottling nights,” growing their team each week.

Brewmaster Barry Hansen says that creating beer is “equal parts arts and science.” It is obvious that these two principles combined to create the beer from #FREEDOM Craft Brewery. The Berry Amendment became available to the public in early September. The amber ale with medium body gives off a heavy fruit aroma but offers only a slightly sweet flavor with berries grown in the northwest US and no added preservatives, colors or sweeteners. Unalienable Rights followed close behind. This pale ale features a light body and offers a crisp taste with a light citrus aroma and below average bitterness for a traditional pale ale.

#FREEDOM Craft Brewery began distributing in Westchester County on August 16th and will be available at a wide variety of bars, beer distributors and convenience stores. A constantly updating list of places to purchase #FREEDOM is live on the brewery website. This fall, #FREEDOM is participating in a number of festivals including the Hudson River Craft Beer Festival which is projected to bring in over 3,000 beer connoisseurs.
