The Cooper Spirits Co., an independent producer of innovative, integrity-driven spirits founded by Robert J. Cooper, a third generation distiller, announces the launch of Lock Stock & Barrel. It is one of the finest and most luxurious expressions of 13 year straight rye whiskey. Lock Stock & Barrel has been created for the most demanding spirits connoisseurs and collectors, as well as gift givers. The spirit, which is 101.3 proof, is rolling out nationally in limited allocations and will retail at a suggested price of $115-$119 for a 750 ml bottle.

Lock Stock & Barrel is double distilled from 100 percent rye in copper pot stills with a “robust cut” selected by master distillers, unfiltered, then aged for 13 years in newly charred American oak barrels. It is robust, spicy and grainy, with notes that suggest salted caramel, toffee, winter spice and tobacco. The spirit is meant to be savored neat, over a large ice cube or with a splash of spring water.

“Long before the current ‘rye resurgence,’ I was an ardent fan of the spirit and fortunate to acquire a significant stock of rare, aged rye whiskey of the highest quality,” said Robert J. Cooper, founder and third generation distiller, Cooper Spirits. “We waited until the spirit achieved unrivaled complexity and harmony and tipped some of the barrels to produce Lock Stock & Barrel. It’s a limited run, making it even more special.”

Lock Stock & Barrel’s striking black glass bottle, elaborate embossed label and cork closure exude the bygone era of illicit saloons and bootleggers of frontier America. In addition to the rare spirit within, they make it a memorable gifting item for special occasions and holidays.

The spirit was produced by Alberta Distilleries Limited (ADL), which was founded by George C. Reifel, a legendary distiller. ADL has a storied history as a major supplier of bootleggers during Prohibition, including the Kennedy Silk Hat Co., which would finance what would become America’s famous political dynasty. Its distillery was built in the middle of 40 acres of rye fields to enable direct purchases from local farmers. Cooper Spirits secured ADL’s “honey barrels,” their oldest and rarest stocks, to produce Lock Stock & Barrel.

The Cooper Spirits Co., founded by Robert J. Cooper, a third generation distiller, is an independent producer of innovative, integrity-driven spirits that was established in 2006. The company was founded with the introduction of St-Germain, an artisanal French liqueur made from fresh elderflower blossoms, heralded as one of the most influential cocktail components of the last decade by the New York Times. Cooper Spirits produces a portfolio of artisanal products: Crème Yvette, a rich berry liqueur handcrafted in France and called for by name in vintage cocktail books dating back to 1890; Slow & Low, a straight rye Old Fashioned in a bottle based on America’s original bottled cocktail, rock and rye; and Lock Stock & Barrel, one of the world’s finest expressions of 13 year straight rye whiskey. The Cooper Spirits Co. is based in Palm Beach, and has offices in New York and Philadelphia.  For more information, please visit www.cooperspirits.com.
