Jewish Whisky Company Joins Forces with High West

Jewish Whisky Company today announced its second annual bottling for their acclaimed Whisky Jewbilee festival, an American blended whiskey produced through a collaboration with High West Distillery.

Jewish Whisky Company’s Whisky Jewbilee is a Glatt Kosher catered premium whisky event focused on fine spirits and cigars. The event provides attendees the opportunity to taste almost 250 of the world’s finest whiskies, smoke some wonderful cigars and enjoy award winning Glatt Kosher food catered by Ari White of Gemstone Catering. This year’s exhibitors will pour whiskies from Scotland, America, Japan, Ireland, Canada, India, and Australia.

“We sat down together several months ago and together selected some very special whiskeys to blend,” said David Perkins, founder of High West Distillery. “There is a class of whiskey called ‘Light Whiskey’ that many people have never heard about. I’ve wanted to play around with it and blend it with some of the other whiskeys I work with. I was honored when the guys from Jewish Whisky Company asked if they could highlight High West Distillery through their 2014 Whisky Jewbilee festival bottling and thought that this could be a good chance to work with them and play with this Light Whiskey.”

The tasting notes on the whisky describe a waxy nose with rosewater, persimmon, and walnut shells that delivers dry cocoa and cherry pectin chews on the mouth before leading into a long orange cream and cigar wrapper finish.

“We’ve long been fans of David Perkins’ award winning High West releases and felt happy and blessed when David agreed to our request to bottle a High West collaborative blend for the 2014 Whisky Jewbilee,” commented Joshua Hatton, co-founder of Jewish Whisky Company. “Our goal for the Jewbilee bottling was to produce a blend that delivered that signature rye character High West is known for but with an exciting twist that we think is brought to the whiskey with the inclusion of the Straight Bourbon and Light Whiskeys.”

The Whisky Jewbilee High West Distillery collaborative American blend is limited to 150 bottles, bottled at cask strength (121 Proof/60.5 ABV). The release can only be reserved on June 17 at the Whisky Jewbilee (www.whiskyjewbilee.com).

David Perkins will host a special blending session before the Whisky Jewbilee on June 17 from 3.30pm-5pm on the Penthouse floor of Studio450. Participants will have an opportunity to blend their own American whiskey under the tutelage of David. Glatt kosher finger foods will be served and participants will leave with a sample of their own blend.

Tickets can be purchased here.

Launched as a celebration of whisky but with an eye firmly on tzedakah (charity), Jewish Whisky Company’s charitable Whisky Jewbilee partners with a different charity each year. This year’s partner is Leket Israel, Israel’s National Food Bank. Proudly sponsored by Kosher Artisanal and Gemstone Catering the event is a highlight of the NYC whisky scene.
