Western passions for gourmet food, drink and the great outdoors converge at two unique food-and-wine festivals taking place this summer in Park City, Utah, and Steamboat Springs, Colo.; two travel destinations that are home to some of the best chefs, sommeliers, and hiking and cycling trails in the world.

The Park City Food and Wine Classic, and the Steamboat Wine Festival, together organized by Denver-based Team Player Productions, each attracted upwards of 4,000 patrons this-past summer. Restaurants and wineries both local and international led educational seminars and Grand Tastings, and partnered with local guides to lead active tours of Park City and Steamboat’s world-renowned mountain biking and hiking routes in the Rockies.

“There were experiences for every sense — taste, smell, sight, touch. People worked their muscles, then enjoyed lunches and wine tastings prepared by the most skilled and exclusive chefs and sommeliers in the world,” Team Player Productions owner and resident wine enthusiast Jason Ornstein said. “Both at our indoor and outdoor seminars our guests learned about wine, beer, and food from sommeliers and chefs who have spent years studying their crafts. We look to provide novel settings that allow the patron to take in all that Park City and Steamboat have to offer.”

The Park City Food and Wine Classic is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10, to Sunday, July 14. The Steamboat Wine Festival is schedule for Wednesday, Aug. 7, though Sunday, Aug. 11. Tickets for both events went on sale Dec. 14 on each festival’s website — ParkCityFoodandWineClassic.com or SteamboatWineFestival.com — and the full seminar schedules will be available in March.

The festivals feature dozens of memorable events that can’t be found at any other food-and-wine event. From sun-up to sun-down, patrons can gather in small groups to learn the art of wine blending, then take home a bottle of blended wine they’ve made themselves, learn how to wine-taste like a master sommelier, take road- and mountain-biking excursions with world-famous chefs and winemakers, become immersed in an “Authentic Belgian Beer and Food Experience,” enjoy festival-favorite “Hikenars” (hikes plus wine seminars), and much, much more.

Prices for each seminar will range from $55 to $125, and they take place at mountain resorts and restaurants around Park City and Steamboat Springs.

Proceeds from ticket sales at the Park City Food and Wine Classic benefit the People’s Health Clinic, a nonprofit that provides healthcare for uninsured individuals and families in Utah’s Summit and Wasatch counties. Proceeds from ticket sales at the Steamboat Wine Festival benefit Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports, which assists handicapped skiers, hikers and mountain bikers in the Steamboat Springs area.

Last year, the Park City Food and Wine Classic raised more than $15,000 for the clinic, and the Steamboat Wine Festival collected more than $41,000 for STARS. In all, Team Player Productions has raised more than $1.2 million for local charities.
