CHERRY HEERING® ACCESSORIZE 2009

Recently, Bar Business Magazine’s esteemed Editor-in-Chief, Chris Ytuarte (below, in tie), participated on the New York judging panel for Heering’s Accessorize 2009, the Heering World Championship in Fashion Mixing and Drink Designing, at Beekman Bar and Books, in New York City.

judges.gifYtuarte sat with industry veterans Sam Ross, who was recently nominated for global “Bartender of the Year” at the 2008 Tales of the Cocktail, Benjamin Jones, Managing Director, Rhum Clément, Abbey Glaser, Director of Marketing for Kindred Spirits, importer for Heering and Martin Miller’s Gin among others, and Ben Scorah, Mixologist and Managing Partner of Bar and Books, who has also won numerous awards for his mixology talents.

Cherry Heering® liqueur, the original “Cherry Brandy” a product of Denmark since 1818, is presenting Accessorize 2009 to the world’s most talented mixologists and aspiring fashion designers while making its presence undeniably known in the U.S. “Heering Accessorize 2009 is a revolutionary competition that will bring together the best up and coming talent in design and mixology from around the world, stated Adéle Nilsson, CEO, The Peter F. Heering. “This inspired gathering of talent uniquely demonstrates Cherry Heering’s commitment to maintaining its position as the ultimate fashion accessory.”

The US qualifying rounds for Heering Accessorize 2009 began as an online experience at the brand’s website, from where one fashion design and mixology winner each will eventually be selected to compete in the global Grand Finale in Singapore on June 4, 2009.

High-end fashion designer, Charlotte Ronson, has partnered up with Heering as a judge for the final US portion of Heering Accessorize 2009. “Charlotte Ronson is the perfect complement to our deeply established roots as the ultimate fashion accessory brand,” saysNilsson. “The combination of Charlotte’s unique and visionary style mix quite fashionably with the iconic Cherry Heering brand.”

Cocktail recipes featuring Cherry Heering were submitted by top mixologists around the country who were inspired by one of six cocktails dresses designed by Swedish top designer, Lars Wallin. In addition, the mixologist entrants were able to select a specially designed glassware piece frocherryheering1.jpgm The House of Orefors to accompany their Cherry Herring-inspired cocktail recipe.

Alternatively, talented fashion designers submitted cocktail dress designs inspired by one of six Cherry Herring-based cocktails created by world class mixologist, Richard Broni.

The Grand Finale will take place at the legendary Raffles Hotel in Singapore, home of the famous Singapore Sling, the iconic cocktail based on Cherry Heering known all around the world. The first place prizes to be awarded, apart from the honor and international exposure of winning Heering Accessorize 2009, will be the right for the mixology winner to publish his/her own cocktail book together with Peter F. Heering by the end of 2009. The winning fashion designer will be awarded their own runway show at the internationally acclaimed Copenhagen Fashion Week (Spring/Summer 2010).
