A Night of Intrigue: The Stolichnaya Moskova Affair

Stolichnaya kicked off its dynamic Moskova Affair Tour, a fantastical experience featuring the renowned avant-cabaret troupe, Vau de Vire Society, in East Hampton this past August. The three month tour visited 14 different cities around the U.S., including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, New York, Hoboken, and Miami. The success the campaign was largely due to the multi-tiered activation approach implemented by non-traditional marketing agency Mirrorball, in collaboration with William Grant Regional Marketing Teams.

Set against a hedonistic backdrop of gold and glittering lights, The Moskova Affair offered consumers an exclusive glimpse into a world where edge and opulence intertwine. The New York event in late September officially launched Stolichnaya’s tenth flavor in its innovative portfolio—Stolichnaya Gala Applik.

stoli2.jpg“Stolichnaya has always been an innovator in the premium vodka industry. This year is not any different, as we look to capitalize on the apple harvest season and bring another first of tastes to the market—the original red apple flavor, Stolichnaya Gala Applik,” said Andrey Skurikhin, Partner at SPI Group, the Stolichnaya brand owner. “Through creative marketing platforms, including The Moskova Affair tour, and innovative cocktail creations, Stolichnaya is proving once again, to be the brand that pushes the envelope and consistently leads the premium vodka industry as the forecasters, originators and innovators of its peers.”

Stolichnaya has long been considered a trailblazer in the vodka industry and a brand constantly on the verge with its consistent award-winning combination of sweet, zesty and clean flavors. Performances with the acclaimed Vau de Vire Society and innovative cocktails, such as the Stoli Leather and Lace, Stoli Blueberi Lemonade and Stoli Razpiroska, reinforce Stolichnaya’s tradition of challenging established ideas and perceptions and forging new experiences in realms ranging from dance to desire.

“The Moskova Affair is an incredible exhibition of passion, talent and innovation – very much in line with the Stolichnaya brand,” said Lisa Pfenning, Stolichnaya Category Brand Director, William Grant & Sons USA. “With the energy and allure of the Vau de Vire Society at our Moskova Affair events, our target consumer is brought into the Stoli world, a world of temptation and intrigue – the perfect place to introduce our newest flavor, Stolichnaya Gala Applik, forbidden fruit no longer.”

The show opens with a slow, sensual solo by a female contortionist covered in gold body paint. As the night continues, the energy of the performance escalates, subjecting the audience to a whirlwind amalgamation of mime, ballet, aerial dance, contortion, acrobatics and interpretative dance.

As guests experience the show, they are invited to enjoy signature Stolichnaya cocktails, including the Stoli Stiletto featuring Stolichnaya Ohranj, lemon-lime soda and freshly squeezed orange juice along with the elit Alibi, which includes elit by Stolichnaya, fresh watermelon, pineapple and simple syrup.

Originally spawning from San Francisco’s thriving dance and circus sub-culture, Vau de Vire Society’s performances redefine the boundaries between audience and performer. Since its inception, Vau de Vire Society has worked with a myriad of cultural institutions and artists, ranging from the San Francisco Symphony and Cirque du Soleil to 50 Cent and The Cure.
