$50,000 in prize money up for grabs; free trip to NYC for two lucky fans
Big Buck Hunter, the cult favorite bar arcade game, will host the fifth annual Big Buck World Championship in New York City this fall with a $50,000 purse. This two-day tournament will take place November 9-10 at the Altman Building in Manhattan, pitting the best virtual hunters from around the country against each other to win a $15,000 grand prize. In addition to Saturday’s World Championship, $5,000 will also be awarded for the winner of the second annual Ladies Tournament, held on Friday night.
The 2012 Big Buck World Championship marks the first time players will compete on Big Buck HD, the first 1080p high-definition arcade game, released this summer. To earn a spot in the World Championship, players must compete in the Online Regional Qualifying Tournament, held September 1 through October 7, on Big Buck HD games around the country. The 12 highest scoring players in each region (North, South, East, West) advance to the World Championship, along with 16 wild card spots for the highest cumulative scores in the country.
A limited amount of tickets will be available to the public for purchase prior to the tournament. Tickets will be sold for both Friday and Saturday and will include free game play and access to a cash bar.
Promising to be the biggest World Championship yet, Play Mechanix, creator of Big Buck HD, is giving away a free trip to New York City for the main event.
