Nightclub & Bar Selects Johnson & Wales Winners

After receiving an overwhelming amount of applicants this year, Nightclub & Bar Media Group is honored to congratulate five students for winning the Johnson & Wales Student Fellowship Award from their four campuses in Charlotte, NC, Denver, CO, North Miami, FL, and Providence, RI. This year’s honorees and their areas of study are:

·        Jaclyn Magnowski, Food Service Management | Denver, ‘16
·        Kelly Swatek, Sports, Entertainment & Event Management | Providence, ‘16
·        Leana Wathey, Restaurant, Food & Beverage Management | North Miami, ‘16

Warrener, Associate Professor at Johnson & Wales University. “This educational opportunity will allow these students to take a giant step forward in their professional careers.”
 
Nightclub & Bar Media Group partnered with Johnson & Wales University for the third consecutive year to present exceptional students graduating with a degree in a hospitality industry-related field the opportunity to attend the Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas, March 7 – 9. The five selected fellows will also be featured on nightclub.com and will be recognized during an awards ceremony at the upcoming convention.
 
To be eligible for the fellowship, individuals must have to have junior or senior status, a grade point average of 3.0 or above and be a student in the Johnson & Wales School of Hospitality.  The considered students must also have a strong educational background in beverages as well as have hands-on food and beverage experience. The five selected participants demonstrated a strong educational desire to work in a field where the knowledge gained from this experience is an exceptional bonus to their professional career.  
 
In addition to the 2016 Fellows, Greg Mayer (’15) and Tommy Seto (’13), the winners of the first Fellowship Award in 2014 will be attending this year’s convention.  Both graduates of the Providence campus, Mayer and Seto have established themselves in successful careers at The Dorrance (Providence, RI) and The Capital Grille (Chestnut Hill, MA), respectively. On Wednesday, March 9, they will present a mixology demo featuring mescal, whiskey and rum cocktails.
