Undurraga has been named the country’s “Winery of the Year” by the Wines of Chile. The award tops a year in which the winery also received the International Trophy, Best in Show for its Terroir Hunter Pinot Noir from the Leyda valley and being named one of the “50 Most Admired Wine Brands” by Drinks International.

According Ernesto Müller, General Manager of GVP (Grupos Vinos del Pacifico) Undurraga’s parent company, “We are extremely proud because it is the most significant award by the wine industry itself-that is to say, by our peers.”

Innovation has been key to Undurraga’s success. As the name implies, the Terroir Hunter line is defined by a search to match the right variety and clone to the vineyard and produce wines that define the best expression of a sense of place. Wine maker Rafael Urrejola has produced 13 skus in the line which allows consumers to discern the unique qualities and differences that terroir can make.

Additionally, the winery has developed a sparkling wine brand named Titillium with consultation from former Moët & Chandon head winemaker Philippe Coulon. The brand will launch in the US this year.

According to Debbie Lane, President of Testa Wines of the World, the brand’s new importer in the US, “Undurraga represents the best of Chile with a family’s commitment to continually push the boundaries to create wines that express the unique characteristics of land, variety and microclimate in which they’re grown.”

Founded in 1885, Undurraga is located in Talagante, in the heart of the Maipo Valley, which is just over 20 miles outside of Santiago.
