The filmmakers and cast from the award-winning 2011 French romantic comedy drama film, “The Artist,” toasted their success with Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque Champagne during a private moment shortly after arriving in Los Angeles, California on Saturday night.
The silent, black-and-white film won five awards at the Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Costume Design and Best Original Score. The awards marked the first time in Academy Awards history that a French actor and filmmaker took the academy’s top acting and directing awards. On Saturday, “The Artist” won four awards at the Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, CA, including Best Feature, Best Director, Best Male Lead and Best Cinematography. The film also won multiple awards at the Cesar Awards in France.
