July 4th is right around the corner, which means summer party season is kicking into high gear. KegWorks, the Buffalo-based retailer of draft beer equipment, premium cocktail ingredients, and bar supplies, is prepping for the summer season with a brand new product called The Watermelon Keg Kit.
This Do-it-Yourself kit allows you turn any ordinary watermelon into a drink-dispensing cocktail keg. In addition to the kit, all you need is a kitchen knife, wooden spoon, bowl, and whatever libation you choose to put in the cocktail keg.
As far as assembly goes, the Watermelon Keg Kit comes with a detailed, seven-step instruction sheet that lays each step coupled with animated visuals. “We’ve tried it out now a few times in the office,” says Trisha Charles, Vice President of Marketing at KegWorks. “It’s really easy to assemble, it pours freely, and if nothing else, it’s the ultimate conversation starter.”
Fashioned after a keg shank and faucet assembly, the kit comes with four total pieces – a coring tool to cut the perfect-sized hole on a hollowed-out watermelon, the faucet, which controls the pour, the shank, which attaches to the faucet and screws through the melon, and a lock nut to secure the entire assembly.
“Use it for your favorite fruity cocktail, frozen sangria, or fill it with juice for the kids,” says Charles. “I plan on having two at each of my parties this summer – one for the kids and one for adults.”
