Speed Rack is coming to Las Vegas! People will be talking non-stop about the time they were in Swingers Club, at the Plaza Hotel watching 16 of Las Vegas’s most endowed (with skill of course) female bartenders, slinging out drinks fast and furiously in the competition that leaves only one lady standing and worthy of the title, Miss Speed Rack Las Vegas.
On March 11th, from 3:00-7:00pm, the Speed Rack tour makes its ninth stop on the 10 city tour to find the fastest female bartender in America, while raising funds for breast cancer research and prevention. Speed Rack is teaming up with local partners, Wendy Hodges, Heidi Welniak, and Anthony Cools in association with USBGLV and BarMagic of Las Vegas.
Speed Rack is a national cocktail competition that features top female bartenders in key cocktail markets and puts them head to head in timed challenges. It is the first competition to highlight the up and coming generation of strong women in the spirits industry.
Using products from sponsors, participating bartenders are required to make a round of cocktails, culled from a list of 50 accepted industry standard recipes, in front of a panel of judges. Judges will rate each drink based on prep time and accuracy. The judging panel includes spirit industry luminaries Tony Abou-Ganim, Kathy Casey, Audrey Saunders, and Charlotte Voisey.
The Vegas leg of the tour follows the success of the inaugural LUPEC (Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails) Speed Rack competition in New York City this past May, which raised $3,500 and stops in Boston, PDX, LA, SF, DC, Houston and Denver, which have brought in over $30,000.
Each local winner will receive a $500 honorarium courtesy of St. Germain to compete in the May 2012 Finals in NYC.
The grand prize winner will be crowned Miss Speed Rack USA and receive an all inclusive trip for two to France to tour the beauty of the Anjou region and discover the essence of Cointreau production at the brand’s distillery; courtesy of Remy Cointreau.
