Wine Country Network, Inc., the producers of the Denver International Wine Festival and Competition, has announced the winners for the Sixth Annual Denver International Wine Competition. Of the many entrants, Southwest Wines of Deming, New Mexico, was awarded gold medals for two of their submissions under separate labels. St. Clair’s Gewürztraminer and DH Lescombes’ Brut were both recognized among wine entries from around the globe during the two-day competition, held September 11 and 12 at the Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield, Colorado.

18 industry professionals participated in the two-day, double-blind competition, and awarded a gold medal to the St. Clair Gewürztraminer. Judges noted its subtle cinnamon texture and ripe apricot taste, filled with subtle hints of sweet spices. Marketed under the DH Lescombes Premium brand, the Brut was noted for its crisp, dry taste, with soft bubbles producing wonderful undertones of honeydew melon and kiwi.

As the largest winery in New Mexico, Southwest Wines offers wine from three separate brands – DH Lescombes, Blue Teal and St. Clair, along with several specialty varieties. Although all of the wine is made in Deming, New Mexico, it’s available in many locations, including the St. Clair Winery and Bistro locations in Albuquerque, Las Cruces and Farmington. The wines can also be experienced at the St. Clair Tasting Room in Deming, and from fine wine retailers throughout the region. The wines are also available on the Internet at www.southwestwines.com. http://www.StClairVineyards.com/
