TUESDAY

GREY GOOSE PRESENTS BEHIND THE BAR, BEYOND THE BAR
At the event, a screening room will offer an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the United States Bartenders Guild and Sundance Channel’s Beyond the Bar, a series of documentary vignettes about bartenders from around the world. Airing this fall during GREY GOOSE Entertainment’s acclaimed TV series Iconoclasts, Beyond the Bar will explore the characters behind the bar and the ingredients they bring to life beyond the bar. GREY GOOSE brand ambassadors and renowned mixologists Guillaume Jubien, Christophe Namer, Dimi Lezinska and Nick Mautone will be on hand during the event and available for interviews.

DITA VON TEESE KICKS OFF TALES OF THE COCKTAIL FOR COINTREAU AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES

DRAMBUIE KICK-OFF EVENT
DRAMBUIE features new interpretations of the Rusty Nail from Duane Fernandez of Entwine (NYC), Meaghan Dorman from The Raines Law Room (NYC), Lance Mayhew of About.com and Left Coast Libations (Portland, OR), and Chad Doll of Bryant’s (Milwaukee). at The Blue Room at The Roosevelt Hotel. Join the storied Drambuie liqueur as it pays homage to the cocktail that started it all: the Rusty Nail. Long associated with the Rat Pack era, when men wouldn’t be seen dead drinking outside of Palm Springs, Vegas or the 21 Club, the Rusty Nail is finding a new lease on life thanks to a number of modern interpretations of the classic cocktail. Additionally, the DRAMBUIE Brand Heritage Director, Jonathan Brown, will be at the event and available for interviews. We can also provide cocktail recipes from the featured bartenders.

WEDNESDAY

TALES OF THE COCKTAIL KICKS OFF WITH TOAST TO TALES
The kick off event brings together the stars of Tales of the Cocktail 2010 as attendees share a toast to the official start to the festivities on the steps of the Hotel Montelone. This free event is open to all Tales of the Cocktail attendees and will feature many of the festival’s featured guests including this year’s Tales of the Cocktail Ambassador, Wendy Waren. During this event Ann Tuennerman, founder of Tales of the Cocktail and the host of the Toast to Tales, will announce the first-ever recipients of the Sazerac Seal of Approval. Attendees will be treated to the first sips of the official cocktail of this year’s festivities, Death in the South Pacific, created by Evan Martin. Tales of the Cocktail’s official non-alcoholic cocktail, Self Imposed Prohibition Punch, will also be available for attendees to sample.

SAZERAC SEAL OF APPROVAL HONOREES TO BE RECOGNIZED AT TALES OF THE COCKTAIL
The New Orleans Culinary and Cultural Preservation Society is proud to announce the first recipients of the Sazerac Seal of Approval. This program honors those establishments that adhere to the traditional Sazerac recipe, making the highest quality Sazeracs New Orleans has to offer. Ann Tuennerman, Executive Director of the NOCCPS, will honor Bar Tonique, Carousel Bar, Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse, Sazerac Bar, DBA, French 75, Cure and Bar Uncommon during Toast to Tales, Tales of the Cocktail’s welcome event.

THE PERFECT PUREE OF NAPA VALLEY
Perfect Purée invites bartenders, brand ambassadors and advanced amateurs to the Hunt Room at Hotel Monteleone to roll up their sleeves and bump elbows with celebrated mixologists Adam Seger and Joe McCanta in the official hum™ Lab. The hum™ Lab will enable guests to create their own unique libations using hum™ Botanical Spirit, Preiss Imports specialty liqueurs, The Perfect Purée’s Culinary Traditions™ and Beverage Artistry™ lines, and an assortment of fresh ingredients. Lab stations will feature everything you need to have a memorable humming experience, including spirits, mixers, fresh fruits, juices, herbs and spices will infuse your creations. SOBIESKI’S POLISH CARNIVAL

Two high-profile bartenders (yet to be revealed) will be pouring exclusive polish vodka – that is not yet available in the US – to go along with the authentic polish food that will be served. Sobieski models will also be adorned with colorful Mardi Gras masks, and Timo Sutinen, VP of Marketing & Business Development for Imperial Brands –the maker of Sobieski- will be in attendance and available for interviews.

Crafting a fine gin requires the skill of an alchemist. The master blenders behind Citadelle Gin rely on a blend of 19 fine botanicals—more than any other gin—and each component lends its soul to the final product, resulting in a delicious and refreshing spirit. Tales of the Cocktail guests will be the first in the country to get a sneak preview taste of Citadelle Gin Reserve Vintage 2010, our aged gin which will not be on the market until the end of this year. THE CABANA CACHAÇA 2010 BARTENDER OLYMPICS

Everyone is encouraged to attend and cheer for their favorite bartender. Live entertainment and cocktails will be provided for everyone. The medal ceremony will be held immediately after the competition. The judges for the games are among the most well respected in the hospitality industry and mixology community and include Francesco LaFranconi, Director of Mixology for Southern Wine & Spirits, Bridget Albert, Master Mixologist and founder of Southern Wine & Spirits of Illinois Academy of Mixology and Culinary Education Program and author of Market Fresh Mixology and Jared Brown, founder of Shaken Not Stirred: A Celebration of the Martini, co-founder of New Orleans’ Museum of the American Cocktail and author of many spirit-focused books including The Soul Of Brasil, an amazing history of the world’s third largest selling spirit: cachaça.

COCKTAIL CULTURE EXPERTS AVAILABLE FOR INTERVIEW AT TALES OF THE COCKTAIL
Michael Lazar and Ted Munat, the authors of the soon-to-be-released Left Coast Libations: The Art of West Coast Bartending: 100 Original Cocktails will be signing books in front of the the bookstore from 12:30 – 1:00 PM on Thursday July 22nd. The authors are available throughout the week for interviews.

EUROWINEGATES UNVEILS TWO NEW PRODUCTS
The French spirits maker will unveil L’Esprit de June – a lovely vineflower liquor (first and only of its kind) which is launching this month in the US and a new Tequila called Excellia – which is aged in Cognac barrels and Sauternes wine casks and then blended by master blender. Sampling of the new products through will be available with informal tastings by the pool at The Bienville House. Master distiller, Jean Sebastien Robiquet, will be there for this one day only.

DONQ SUPPORTS LOUISIANA COASTAL REHAB BENEFIT AT TIPITINA’S FRENCH QUARTER
DonQ, Puerto Rico’s Premium Rum, is proud to sponsor the first annual Louisiana Coastal Rehab benefit in support of Gulf Coast oil spill relief efforts. A stellar line-up of local legends including Cowboy Mouth and New Orleans Rebirth Brass Band will perform in support of local businesses and fishermen who’ve been hit hardest since the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. All proceeds from the first annual Louisiana Coastal Rehab benefit will be donated to the Greater New Orleans Foundation to assist its critical Gulf relief efforts and supporting the wider Louisiana community. Nearly one third of our nation’s seafood is harvested in Louisiana’s waters and 6,400 fishermen in Louisiana’s coastal parishes are facing unemployment as a result of the April 20th disaster. BONEFISH GRILL SEARCH FOR THE BEST COCKTAIL FEATURING A NEW SPIRIT
In its constant pursuit to keep its bar at the cutting edge of the industry, Bonefish Grill is asking spirit entrepreneurs and brands to present their new offerings in its search for the “Best Cocktail Featuring a New Spirit.” The winning cocktail will be featured on the bar menu at select Bonefish Grill locations, with potential for inclusion in all restaurants. Participating spirits are invited to enter for a chance to present their most innovative cocktail, which must feature a spirit that is new to the market since July 2009.

Geranium Gin will be introduced to the US market for the first time at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans at The Eggpire Strikes Back, a Presentation that hopes to clear up all the confusion, myths, and abuse of the world’s most feared cocktail ingredient: the egg.

WINDSOR COURT HOSTS US LAUNCH OF JADE ABSINTHES
The Polo Club Lounge at the Windsor Court Hotel will partner with Viridian Spirits to host the U.S. launch of Jade Absinthes. The newly-released line of three high-end absinthes will be served traditionally, and Lucid will be used in classic absinthe cocktails. This event will represent the first time the complete Jade absinthe portfolio, which also includes Nouvelle Orleans, is introduced and served on U.S. soil.Master absinthe distiller and creator of Jade Absinthes, Ted Breaux, will be on hand to answer questions and provide tips on how best to enjoy the notorious “Green Fairy.” Viridian Spirits and Ted Breaux negotiated an end to the ban on genuine absinthe in the United States after 95 years of prohibition with the launch of Lucid Absinthes, and are continually looking to expand the absinthe category. Cool off again with a Dutch Bols Genever Bike Ride – Explore New Orleans the Dutch way by bike – with the Bols Genever bicycles and see the city from a different angle. Pernod Ricard USA’s Kahlúa® coffee liqueur has selected the “Black Paloma”, a brunch cocktail recipe from Rick Stutz, to be featured at New Orleans’ Tales of the Cocktails being held July 21 – July 25, 2010. Kahlúa, the world’s number one coffee liqueur, will be serving delicious java and Kahlúa concoctions daily from 8:30 – 10:30 am at the Tales of the Cocktail Kahlúa Coffee Bar in New Orleans. Along with an assortment of hot and iced brews, Stutz’s “Black Paloma” recipe will be stirred up by bartenders from many Notable New Orleans hot spots.

BAR TOWEL SEEKS TO CLEAN UP THE GULF
In an effort to support a seafood industry that plays such a large role in the culinary traditions of New Orleans, The New Orleans Culinary and Cultural Preservation Society will be selling a limited edition bar towel during Tales of the Cocktail. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this bar towel will go directly to oyster shuckers who have recently been laid off due to the oil spill in the Gulf. TLC linen services has donated the towels and the New Orleans Culinary and Cultural Preservation Society has developed a design proclaiming that the towel “Cleans up bars, tables and the Gulf Coast.” Some 15,000 visitors, many of which are from outside the Gulf Region, will have the opportunity to support this on-going recovery effort by purchasing this towel. In addition to be available on-site at Tales of the Cocktail, people will be able to purchase this limited edition towel at Tales of the Cocktail.

Start the day off right by sampling innovative cocktails from Van Gogh Vodka and Ron Abuelo Rum.
