Scottish Company Takes Home Accolades

Surface ID, an award-winning interior design company based in Glasgow, has walked away with two major awards at the national Restaurant and Bar Design Awards held at Canary Wharf, London. The company specializes in commercial interiors for the licensed trade, and has worked on both UK-based and international projects, from Glasgow, Birmingham and London, to Sydney, Australia and Ibiza.

Surface ID won the ‘Pub’ category for award-winning Glasgow institution, Stravaigin. Situated near Glasgow University, the bar is popular with west end residents as well as local businesses and students. Surface ID ‘upcycled’ and helped Stravaigin lower its carbon footprint by sourcing locally and using the owner’s collectin of salvaged materials and artifacts.

They also won the ‘Multiple Bar or Club’ category for the Grosvenor Café project, in Glasgow, where they worked to a brief of bringing back heritage to world renowned Ashton Lane in the city’s West End.

“We are thrilled and very excited to have won these two prestigious awards,” said Iain McArthur, Director of Surface ID. “Being the only Scottish design company to have won, against the larger and London-based companies is testament to the fact that there is talent in Scotland.”
