Phenix Brands Launches Samogon in the States

According to PRNewswire, Phenix Brands has announced the launch of SAMOGON, a clear base spirit new to the U.S. market. The product is available in Missouri, Louisiana, and Illinois.

SAMOGON was created by master distiller Valery Stepanovich using a recipe from the late 1700s. His custom-made still allows him to produce this traditionally homemade spirit on a scale sufficient for distribution, and to make it available for the first time in the United States. Produced from grapes, wine and pomace, SAMOGON has a flavor that is softer and fruitier than that of vodka, and it is gentle even though it is a potent 90 proof.

SAMOGON is not a liqueur or an ingredient spirit, nor is it a new version of an original spirit. It represents a new category of base spirit that is traditionally consumed as a shot in Eastern Europe, and is being used by American mixologists in new and established cocktails. SAMOGON has already become a huge hit in the Mixology community, as a SAMOGON cocktail called “From Russia with Love,” created by Arturo Vera-Felicie of Manifesto, was awarded a Chairman’s Trophy at the Ultimate Cocktail Challenge.
