Rick Edwards, Master of Scotch, Named Scotch Ambassador of the Year 2015 by the prestigious Icons of Whisky America.
Rick Edwards, Master of Scotch for Pernod Ricard USA, has 18 years of whisky industry experience, including studying with Evan Cattanach, Master Keeper of the Quaich and Master Distiller Emeritus. He has worked for several prestigious Scottish distilleries in positions ranging from Brand Ambassador to National Mentor and in 2001, fulfilled a lifelong dream when he was invited to the Royal Lochnagar Academy of Malt Advocates where he earned the title of Master of Scotch. Rick has also completed the Chivas Brothers Masters Course as an ambassador for The Glenlivet and is a member of the Whisky Technology & Production Academy. His in-depth knowledge of the category and his identifiable style and swagger helped Rick edge out a number of creditable contenders for the top honor.
The Icons of Whisky recognize the leaders and innovators in the whisky and scotch category every year. New in 2015, the Icons of Whisky opened up the voting to industry insiders, allowing producers, retailers, distributors, and importers to nominate and vote for companies and individuals deserving of the ‘Icon’ title. Close to 4,000 votes were cast that were then reviewed by the Whisky Magazine editorial panel for a final decision.
