Pahlmeyer Unveils New Jayson Cabernet Package

Pahlmeyer unveils the debut vintage of Jayson Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, the first 100% Cabernet Sauvignon to be released into the market in the winery’s history.

The Jayson portfolio is the second label of Pahlmeyer. The Jayson line honors its namesake Jayson Pahlmeyer with wines that express his unquenchable desire for excellence in artisanal winemaking.

Jayson Cabernet Sauvignon is selected from vineyard blocks at Pahlmeyer’s Waters Ranch, Stagecoach Vineyard and Rancho Chimiles, two of Pahlmeyer’s long time vineyard partners. Pahlmeyer Winemaker Kale Anderson oversees the vineyard management and vinification of all the Jayson wines. “Creating a wine of this caliber requires unwavering attention,” he explains. It includes native fermentation and little to no filtering or fining. “We are as gentle as possible throughout the entire process—and we provide this level of intensity to over 200 lots.”

The inaugural vintage released in March, along with the Jayson North Coast Chardonnay and Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, two long-time anchors in the portfolio. The release features a refined package that more distinctly reflects its association with Pahlmeyer.

“We’re very proud of the Jayson portfolio,” said Brian Hilliard, president of Pahlmeyer. “In a competitive and crowded price segment, we felt it was important to make our value abundantly clear to the customer by stating, on the label, these wines are crafted by Pahlmeyer.”

The suggested retail price of the 2011 Jayson Cabernet Sauvignon is $75, the 2012 Jayson North Coast Chardonnay is $50, and the 2012 Jayson Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is $60.

Founded in 1986, Pahlmeyer is an iconic Napa Valley family winery born from Jayson Pahlmeyer’s dream to create his own “California Mouton”.  Initially inspired by the wines of Bordeaux, Pahlmeyer creates limited quantities of world-class wines that are the essence of power and finesse. The portfolio of sought-after wines features the flagship, “Proprietary Red,” complemented by Merlot, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, all of which consistently earn high critical acclaim.
