New Eco-Friendly POP Earth Champagne

Champagne Pommery Grows Their Grapes Greener: New Eco-Friendly POP Earth Champagne

pop_earth_champagne.jpgThe House that brought you the first split-sized Champagne, Pommery POP, is now taking a cue from Mother Earth. Pommery’s iconic blue brand waxes green as it introduces new POP Earth NV Champagne, an eco-friendly addition to their popular POP (Product of Pommery) line. The new POP Earth reflects the House’s ongoing commitment to making outstanding Champagne while using sustainable practices.

Pommery first answered the call of today’s Generation GREEN over a decade ago when they became the first Champagne House to obtain ISO 14001 and 9001 Certification. Since then, they have been practicing sustainable wine-growing, managing waste and limiting water and energy consumption. By doing so and growing healthier vines, Pommery is literally creating “greener pastures” for future generations while continuing to craft the world’s finest bubbly.

“Many Champagne Houses speak of their intentions to protect the environment, but Pommery has been following through on that promise for years with its continued green efforts,” says Pommery Cellar Master, Thierry Gasco, who also acts as Chairman of the Oenologists of France and is a member of the National Board of the INAO (L’institut National des Appelations d’Origine). “France and the rest of the world has been eagerly anticipating the new introduction of POP Earth Champagne.”

To be kinder to Mother Nature, the new POP Earth bottle uses lighter glass (1.85lbs) than conventional champagne bottles (2lbs), which in turn reduces pollution and energy costs during shipping. The bottle features a label made from some recycled materials and is printed with water soluble inks.

POP Earth NV is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier. Brilliant with very fine bubbles, the nose is fresh, featuring white fruit supported by a hint of warm brioche. On the palate, POP Earth gives way to tropical flavors and a lovely roundness complemented by a crisp acidity and a lingering finish. A delicate Brut style Champagne, POP Earth can be enjoyed alone or with food.
