Macallan Auctions Whiskey for Big Bucks

Yesterday evening, The Macallan and Lalique sold a bottle of whiskey at an auction to go to a charity that provides access to clean and safe drinking water in developing nations called charity: water. The coveted whiskey, Cire Perdue, sold for a record $460,000 at Sotheby’s in New York City.

The Lalique one-of-a-kind crystal decanter holds the oldest and rarest of the Macallan collection of whiskeys; a 64-year-old single malt. All the proceeds that have been raised during the Macallan and Lalique 12-city “tour du monde” since April, is going to charity: water as well.

Since the beginning of the tour in April, The Macallan and Lalique have raised approximately $650,000 for charity: water, in hopes to save the lives of over 30,000 people in developing nations.

“We are delighted that the proceeds from this historic auction of The Macallan 64 Years Old in Lalique: Cire Perdue will help fund our efforts,” said Scott Harrison, found of charity: water. “Clean water is foundational to communities, and I’m proud to be working with these two esteemed brands to foster thriving and healthy populations worldwide.”
