LUCANO 1894 CELEBRATES HISTORY WITH ANNIVERSARIO

Lucano 1894, a leading Italian Amaro, announces the release of Amaro Lucano Anniversario to honor the heritage of the company. Amaro Lucano Anniversario celebrates more than 120 years of rich history with a new recipe. It is full-bodied and aromatic, with a higher alcohol content than the original Amaro Lucano.

Amaro Lucano Anniversario is enhanced with notes such as holy thistle and gentian. Made with a blend of more than 30 herbs and spices including musk yarrow, aloe, absinthe wormwood, and clary sage, the botanicals balance the sweet and bitter notes making Amaro Lucano Anniversario a great base for cocktails, an after dinner drink or consumed neat. Amaro Lucano Anniversario has an alcohol content of 34% ABV, compared to the original Amaro Lucano which comes in at 28% ABV.

Amaro Lucano Anniversario’s recipe is kept top secret with only one person, Lucano’s CEO Pasquale Vena, being privy to it. The recipe was found in a manuscript dating back to the 1800s which belonged to Cavalier Pasquale Vena, the creator of Amaro Lucano. Cav. Pasquale Vena was a confectioner with a passion for herbs and owned a biscuit factory in Pisticci in Basilicata, Italy where he developed Lucano’s original blend in 1894.

“We are delighted to launch Amaro Lucano Anniversario and to honor the history and tradition of Amaro,” said Leonardo Vena, Marketing Manager of Lucano 1894. “With the addition of Amaro Lucano Anniversario, we aim to increase the recognition of Amaro in the US market and to continue Lucano 1894’s legacy in the category.”

To celebrate the launch of Amaro Lucano Anniversario, Lucano 1894 has partnered with top bartenders and mixologists around the world from the Café Standard at The Standard Hotel in New York to SubAstor in São Paulo, Brazil. The company believes in the fine art of mixing drinks and studying the history, techniques and ingredients is fundamental in creating a drink. The bartenders have developed recipes to incorporate the new Amaro into cocktails to showcase its intense, aromatic flavor and to interpret its history.

Printed in Italian, the Amaro Lucano Anniversario label says “Work and Honesty” in gold lettering which reflects the Vena family’s passion, work ethic and respect to family tradition. The Vena family still owns and operates the fourth generation business, with the recipe being passed down to each heir as they take the company reins. Amaro Lucano Anniversario is available to consumers nationwide and debuted at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen with a suggested retail price of $34.99. Amaro Lucano and Amaro Lucano Anniversario are exclusively imported in the United States by Domaine Select Wine & Spirits within their Classic & Vintage spirits portfolio. As of June, Southern Wine & Spirits will distribute Amaro Lucano in California, the country’s largest spirits market.
