Lost Prophet is Found

The fourth release from the Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company is Lost Prophet, a 22-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that was distilled in Frankfort, Ky. at what was then the George T. Stagg Distillery and found at Stitzel-Weller warehouses in Louisville. The highly allocated whiskey will be available in mid-December for a suggested retail price of $120.

Lost Prophet’s packaging reflects the whiskey’s divine, intricate personality, mixing line illustrations, elaborate typography and ornate borders and frames. The deep black label and embossed gold design elements beautifully showcase the “lost lamb” and offer contrast to the beautiful amber liquid in the bottle.

The Lost Prophet Whiskey stock was distilled in 1991 in Frankfort, Ky., at what was then the George T. Stagg Distillery and found in the old Stitzel-Weller Warehouses in Louisville, Ky. The whiskey is hand-bottled in Tullahoma, Tenn.

The mash bill for Lost Prophet Whiskey is 75-78% corn, 7-10% barley and 15% rye.

Beginning with notes of honey, dried fruit, apricot and clove on the nose, Lost Prophet Whiskey tastes of spice cake, vanilla and leather before a sweet, smoky finish.

The Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company is focused on finding long forgotten barrels of rare and delicious whiskey and sharing them with others.  We are inspired by creativity, delicious whiskey, good times and great stories. The project is owned and run by DIAGEO with headquarters in Tullahoma, TN.  However, we like to think the company is founded in dark, quiet corners of our warehouses around the world where artisanal whiskies were forgotten, just waiting to be discovered.

To-date, the Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company has released four variants – Barterhouse, Old Blowhard, Rhetoric and Lost Prophet. Orphan Barrel whiskies will be sourced from wherever our team is able to find these forgotten, rare collections of beautiful whiskey.  From Tennessee to Kentucky to Scotland and Ireland, we believe there is a treasure trove of liquid to be discovered and shared with true whiskey fans everywhere.
