Following on the heels of the successful debut of ‘Hawk of Achill,” the latest TV spot in Jameson’s multiple award winning “Legendary Tales of John Jameson,” Jameson is delighted to reveal the launch of Jameson1780.com. Jameson1780.com is a digital initiative based on the print and television campaign that brings to life the legendary tales of John Jameson and the passion he had for his great tasting whiskey.

Developed in conjunction with Evolution Bureau, Jameson1780.com invites users to participate in their own legendary tale and solve the mystery of the missing barrel of Jameson Irish Whiskey. In the course of solving the mystery, users will encounter live action characters from 1780’s Dublin who will give them six clues to identify who has borrowed the missing barrel. As the clues come from their Facebook friends’ profile, the real test lies in how well anyone really knows their Facebook friends.

“This digital extension of the ‘Legendary Tales of John Jameson’ campaign is a truly unique and innovative program within the distilled spirits industry. It offers our passionate Jameson consumers a fun new way to engage and interact with the brand,” said Wayne Hartunian, Vice President of Whiskeys and Cognac at Pernod Ricard USA. “This exciting interactive format allows our consumers to actively participate in a legendary tale of their own.”

Stephen Goldblatt from Evolution Bureau said, “We changed the dynamic from the brand telling the consumer their story to the brand inviting the consumer into their story. With this initiative, we are allowing people to take part in a John Jameson-like legend by walking the streets of Dublin and collecting clues in hopes of finding a missing barrel of whiskey. We feel it strikes a nice balance of traditional storytelling, which is what the brand is rooted in, and a nod to the fact that their fans spend a great deal of their time on Facebook. Jameson is starting a conversation with their fans without their brand story missing a beat. We developed Jameson1780.com to allow Jameson fans to engage with a brand they are passionate about. Their fan base existed and simply wanted to be closer to the brand.”

Shot on location in Dublin and featuring a full cast of Irish actors, Jameson 1780 is designed to be a fun digital initiative that just like Jameson, can be shared amongst friends, blending the brand’s heritage with today’s leading social networking site, Facebook.
