Innis & Gunn Silver

Innis & Gunn, Scotland’s leading independent beer company known for its innovation in oak maturation, has taken home the silver at the U.S. Open Beer Championship.

Innis & Gunn Toasted Oak IPA beer won Silver for the Wood/Barrel Aged Pale Beer category and Innis & Gunn Rum Aged beer won Silver for Wood/Barrel Aged Dark Beer category in the 2014 U.S. Open Beer Championship competition.

According to the US Open Beer press release: “Breweries from Australia to Iceland sent in more than 3,000 beers and ciders representing 81 different categories for the 2014 U.S. Open Beer Championship, the only brewery competition to include professional breweries and award-winning home-brewers.”

Innis & Gunn Toasted Oak IPA was just introduced this past April and is a permanent part of the portfolio. It is an understated triple-hop-infused brew matured for 41 days over oak in Innis & Gunn’s proprietary oak-aging percolators knows as the Oakerators® (think coffee percolator). This aging gives it a rich, rounded quality much like an authentic IPA of the 1800s. This is a full-bodied but still crisp and refreshing IPA.

Innis & Gunn Rum Aged is matured over oak heartwood infused with specially selected rums giving it spicy, full-bodied qualities.
