HENDRICK’S TO HOST HOT GIN PUNCH TOURNAMENT

Hendrick’s Gin is delighted to announce its 1st annual Hot Gin Punch Tournament to be held in the United States. This contest (the largest and most unusual to date) challenges U.S. bartenders to create their own unique hot gin punch accompanied by a mythological, curious, and/or mysterious tale. Entry for the competition is officially open now through March 13th.

The rules are simple: concoct a batch of hot gin punch and create an anecdote that enhances the imagination, method, history and/or emotion behind the potion. Competitors will upload their cocktail, ingredients, method and story to the competition webpage for judging. Seven finalists – based upon the quality of their cocktail and troubadour telling prowess – will be chosen to compete in a final race in an unexpected, secretive location, in April. The winners will be announced via the United States Bartenders’ Guild (USBG) website (www.usbg.org).

The goal of this tournament is to inspire bartenders to demonstrate their cocktail expertise, but also to test their creativity in the lost art of storytelling. “The Hendrick’s Hot Gin Punch Tournament is an opportunity for us to engage with the trade in an unusual manner, the same way we craft our gin,” said Hendrick’s Ambassador Sebastien Derbomez. “We’ll reward the finalists with an intriguing and inspiring travel experience and of course, a shot at ultimate gin punch bragging rights.”

The Hot Gin Punch Tournament has been held in Australia since 2013. In 2014, the final competition took place over three days in Vanuatu, a Pacific Island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean. In 2015, the final competition was held in Uluru, a large sandstone rock formation situated in the southern-most part of Central Australia. Hendrick’s Gin ambassadors assure that this years’ experience will be equally as rare and sensational.

The definitive winner of the Hendrick’s Hot Gin Punch Tournament will be taken on a journey far beyond the ordinary; don’t forget a passport…bon voyage!
