Lucas Bols, the world’s oldest distilled spirits brand company, is bringing Galliano back to its USA portfolio, effective date September 1, 2010. To commemorate, Lucas Bols USA will reintroduce the original 1896 recipe for Galliano L’Autentico nationwide this fall in time for National Harvey Wallbanger Day on November 18, encouraging a new generation of drinkers to raise a retro glass and celebrate like its 1970.
TBased on the original recipe developed in 1896, Galliano L’Autentico is heightened with a menagerie of herbs and botanicals including hints of juniper, anise and yarrow musk which add complexity to the signature vanilla flavor making it an authentic artisanal herbal liqueur again. The spirit was a key ingredient in the iconic Harvey Wallbanger cocktail named for the Manhattan Beach surf star who had a few too many after losing a surfing competition. He couldn’t leave the bar without stumbling into walls, earning a reputation for himself and the drink containing vodka, orange juice and Galliano. Harvey Wallbangers were a popular tipple throughout the 1960’s and ‘70s and with the reintroduction of Galliano L’Autentico, can now be enjoyed in their original incarnation by a new generation of drinkers.
Lucas Bols USA will introduce The Harvey Wallbanger Gift Set just in time for the holidays, including one 375ml bottle of Galliano L’Autentico and one traditional Wallbanger glass with recipe. A perfect gift for lovers of Mad Men-era retro culture and kitsch, the sets will be on sale nationally beginning October 1, 2010.

1.25 oz Vodka
0.25 oz Galliano
3 oz orange juice
1 slice orange
Method: In a long drink with ice,
add the the Vodka and the orange juice.
Float Galliano on top and stir.
Garnish: An orange slice.
