Crown Imports announced today a partnership between Corona and The V Foundation to help raise money for cancer research. The V Foundation was inspired in 1993 by North Carolina State basketball coach Jimmy Valvano and ESPN, and has raised more than $100 million for cancer research and awarded more than 400 cancer research grants nationwide.
Corona Extra and Corona Light will sponsor V Week on ESPN and raise funds for the foundation throughout the month of December on the Corona Light Facebook page.
Corona Light and The V Foundation are also using Facebook as a way to help fight cancer. Between December 1st and December 31st, 2010, for each Facebook user that is at least 21 years old who goes to the Corona Light Facebook page (www.facebook.com/coronalight) and “likes” it, Crown Imports will donate $1 (up to a maximum of $20,000) to The V Foundation.
Corona Extra is also the presenting sponsor of V Week, taking place December 1-7 on ESPN. The sponsorship includes in-game television spots, feature studio segments on the Sports Center property W2W4, on-site activation elements and a check presentation by Corona executives to The V Foundation during a Jimmy V Classic game.
“Corona and Crown are committed to giving back to the community and supporting this worthy cause,” said Bill Hackett, president of Crown Imports. “Cancer research is so important, and aligning with The V Foundation to raise awareness and funds makes us proud as an organization.”
