One of the last known remaining vintage bottles of Cherry Heering liqueur from 1890 was donated at the 2011 Tales of the Cocktail from Adele Robberstad, CEO of the Xante Company and Peter F. Heering, to bar icon Dale DeGroff, President of The Museum of The American Cocktail for permanent display. Now Cherry Heering can lay claim to truly being one of the all-time classic and quality tasting brands, as it has finally returned to where it was awarded its most prestigious medal—the gold medal at The World Fair 1884 in New Orleans as the best liqueur.
“This is truly a big day for the Heering Family, it is more than handing over a bottle, it is closing a circle, it is coming back to New Orleans,” said Robberstad. “The Museum of the American Cocktail is a place of honor and a perfect home for the rarest vintage of Cherry Heering.”
The first vintage bottle opening of 1890 in over a hundred plus years of Cherry Heering liqueur took place at The Campbell Apartment in New York City in 2010, where several members of the cocktail community took place in the tasting. Previous vintage bottles of Cherry Heering were auctioned off through Sotheby in New York with proceeds benefitting DIFFA, Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS.
