Captain Morgan Debuts New Tailgating Display

Tailgating is taken very seriously by many, and Captain Morgan is looking to take it to the next level. Diageo is promoting the brand with a tailgate truck display which is further increasing the visibility of what is already the number-two rum brand in the world.

The display, developed by GAP Promotions, features working tail lights, a tailgate that easily folds to facilitate the loading of cases, and a back window that slides open. GAP and its manufacturer re-designed the art during the prototype phase to incorporate Diageo’s latest campaign for Captain Morgan, Life, Love, Loot. The rack was designed to be positioned on top of cases but can also be placed flush against a wall to look as though it is coming out of the wall, or can be placed directly on the floor. The truck can be found in Diageo’s southeast market including Georiga, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky as well as in Iowa, Ohio, Florida and Colorado. This display has been seen at Bob’s Package Store in Knoxville.

For Frank Mendez, Diageo Marketing Manager for South Carolina and Kentucky, tailgating is extremely important to him and his area of the country. He conceptualized the piece, knowing that it would resonate with his consumers. He envisioned the tailgate truck and reached out to GAP promotions account rep, Erica Nee, who had prior experience bringing to life a formed plastic NASCAR car for Crown Royal. The piece is approximately 33″ tall, 33″ wide, and 35″ deep and was built to hold four cases of 1.75 L bottles. From the field, GAP Promotions has heard “the feedback from customers is great, even competitors have made compliments!”
