Brewers Association Makes Some Changes

According to OregonLive.com, the Brewers Association has raised the annual production limit for craft breweries. Currently, the limit for annual production in order to be considered a craft brewery is two million. However, with the increase, breweries can produce up to six million and still be considered a craft brewery.

Boston Beer Company, brewers of Samuel Adams, will soon exceed the limit of two million, and other big craft brewers such as Sierra Nevada are not far behind. This increase will ensure that these growing breweries will still be in the craft beer column when it comes time for overall production statistics.

“That was a good move,” said Deschutes Brewery president Gary Fish. “It doesn’t make much sense for us to just kick someone onto the ice floe and set them adrift just because they got big.”
