BEER BAR LUKSUS GETS MICHELIN STAR

The Nordic-influenced restaurant, Luksus, received its first Michelin star. Developed by Chef/Owner Daniel Burns of Tørst and Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø of Evil Twin Brewing, the beer-focused restaurant is the first in the world to receive a star that does not offer wine or liquor. The 2015 Michelin Guide awarded honors to 71 restaurants in the New York, 10 of which are in Brooklyn.

“We are cooking seasonal food that celebrates the ingredients. To be recognized in this way by the Michelin Guide is simply outstanding and I am incredibly happy,” says Burns, who has worked at other Michelin-starred restaurants including The Fat Duck, St. John and Noma.

Danish for “luxury,” the restaurant features a seasonal tasting menu created by Burns and exclusive beer pairings curated by Jeppe Jarnit- Bjergsø, beer consultant and world-renowned gypsy brewer of Evil Twin Brewing. Similar to the dinner menu, the elite beer offerings constantly evolve to match the unique flavor profiles of Burns’ dishes. Luksus offers a variety of rare imports as well as brews made exclusively for the restaurant. “From the day we opened, we always aimed to be included in the Michelin Guide. We wanted to show the world that fine dining can be done with beer and without having to consider wine. To have the Michelin Guide recognize us is the ultimate achievement,” says Jarnit-Bjergsø.

Luksus’ Michelin star solidifies the restaurant as of one of the country’s top culinary dining destinations. The Michelin Guide, a prestigious 100-year-old restaurant ratings system from France, awards stars for excellence to select establishments every year and is widely considered the leader in food-focused guide books.

Luksus is open for dinner Tuesday-Sunday 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM. The tasting menu is $95 with an optional beer pairing for $45. For reservations or more information visit www.luksusnyc.com or call (718) 389-6034. Luksus is located at 615 Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint, Brooklyn behind Tørst.
