Beer and Caffeine is a No-No

According to The New York Times, Rhonda Kallman of Cohasset, Massachusetts, was told by the FDA that her Moonshot ’69 brew that contains caffeine has to either remove the caffeine, or stop selling the product completely. This ruling was brought on by the FDA’s earlier ban on alcoholic-energy drinks, such as Four Loko and Joose.

Kallman has removed and replaced Moonshot several times over the past few years, but put it officially back on the market in April of 2009, only to be told a few months later that the FDA was starting to look into alcoholic beverages with caffeine. Now she has been told to pull her product from the shelves.

“Give us a base line,” she said. “I’m happy to comply. Regulate, but don’t ban.”
