Alsatian Amers to US

Bliss Imports, LLC is now importing two brands of French amers from Alsace, available for the first time in the United States. The Wolfberger and Sommer distilleries are considered the two pillars of traditional amers in Alsace.

Wolfberger and Sommer brands of Alsatian amers have been introduced in the greater New York City area, with multi-state distribution planned. Bliss Imports is importing an expanded line of five amers – Wolfberger Wolfamer, Amer Gingembre (Ginger) and Amer Orange, and Sommer’s L’Authentique and Fleur de Sommer.

“Most people know Amer Picon, but are not aware that there are a number of amers that are widely popular in France. The specific details and exact recipes related to the production of these spirits are not openly shared, some techniques passed from generation to generation. I’m all about these amers right now…just in time for my new menu!” said Maxwell Britten, Bar Director, Maison Premiere.

Traditional French amers are bitters liqueurs infused with citrus, gentian root, cinchona bark (quinine), and caramel. Wolfamer and Sommer are the authentic, preferred brands from Alsace. Established in 1874 and 1885 respectively, the two distilleries have been producing award-winning eau-de-vies, wines, spirits, and amers for generations. The spirits are perfect over rocks, as a cocktail base, modifier, or to mix to make a classic Alsatian amer bière. Find recipes at BlissImports.com.
